Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on July 8, 1989 in Paris. When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, she enrolled in The Dragon School. Emma always had the desire to become an actor since she was six. She was enrolled at Stagecoach Theatre Arts in Oxford, an acting institute with part-time courses. By the time she turned 10 years old, Emma took part in a variety of Stagecoach productions and plays. Casting began in 1999 for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the movie adaptation of British writer J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Casting agents found Emma by way of her Oxford theater teacher. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint following auditions for 8 times. They were cast as the three lead characters Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's first screen appearance was Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's release in 2001. The film beat all previous records on opening day and weekend numbers, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially the young performers. The well-known British paper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable. Emma was awarded five nominations for her exceptional performance. Then, she was awarded the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of a Film.
